Teacher Resources
Education of the community, especially children, is extremely important to the Museum and its mission. ArtLink tours for school children are offered year round. Art Academy sessions for 8 to 14-year-olds are held during summer break. The Museum proudly partners with Fresno County Superintendent of Schools, Fresno Unified School District, and Sanger Unified School District to develop art educational programs to benefit San Joaquin Valley residents.
Teacher/Parent/School Resources
The role of an art museum in a community is a very important tool that can be utilized by teachers and schools to enhance their curriculum and introduce children to art and culture in a fun, memorable, and unintimidating way. There are several options which teachers have to add the visual arts to their curriculum:
- ArtLink Field Trips: Interactive gallery tours of our galleries followed by an art-making workshop in our classroom with our teaching artists.
- Partnering with the Fresno and Sanger Unified School Districts, the Museum provides opportunities for nearly 7,000 third-grade students to show their artwork in our ChildSpace gallery and visit the Museum with their families for free. The Any Given Child program Unit Plan for third-grade, video art lessons, and more are available for free to all who are interested.
- Homeschool parents can take advantage of our workshops during the summer break, bring a group of homeschool children to the Museum for an ArtLink tour, or organize a regular weekly class for a group of homeschool children at the Museum.
- We also offer a few tips about Talking to Your Kids about Art.
The Museum is open to designing special programs for your school or organization. Please contact the Education Director Susan Yost Filgate at 559-441-4221 x101 to discuss possible program ideas.
