M. Lee Fatherree is an acclaimed American photographer based in the San Francisco Bay Area, widely recognized as one of the region's foremost chroniclers of art and the creative process. For over three decades, his Oakland-based studio has seamlessly balanced the precise technical demands of fine art archival work with intimate, improvisational portraiture of iconic contemporary artists. In this solo exhibition, Fatherree is premiering Presence, his portfolio of 16 artist portraits.

As a master of standard museum-grade documentation, he collaborates with prominent galleries and institutions to photograph paintings, sculptures, ceramics, and installations for exhibition catalogs. For this new portfolio, while he was documenting finished objects, Fatherree simultaneously utilized traditional black-and-white film negatives to capture the artists themselves in their private studios.
