Radically modifying ordinary objects and building materials into exaggerated, arcane sculptural elements, Joan Tanner has created a site-specific installation composed of individually formatted works constructed from randomly acquired fugitive materials. The environmental aspects of two galleries have been synthesized with the artist’s placement of disparate elements and objects of various organic and inorganic materials. The artist has created a tangible architectonic tension designed to exploit the spatial configurations of sculptural form in relationship to the viewer as they enter an environment of transformed fabrication.
